![]() ![]() Meridian Township 5151 Marsh Rd. Members serve a two year term and have experience working with groundwater, lakes, wetlands and environmental management. Members are Meridian Township residents who are objective, are registered voters and have a knowledge of the local real estate market or are willing to learn. The Lake Lansing Advisory Committee works with Meridian Township to oversee the ongoing work of the watershed and long term health of Lake Lansing. The Board of Review is an appointed six-member board with two alternates serving two year terms. The authority of the Board of Review does not extend to standard valuation appeals for the July and December meetings. The July and December meetings are also held to consider poverty exemptions, the denial of certain personal property exemptions, veteran's exemptions, homeowner’s principal residence exemptions, qualified agricultural property exemptions and qualified forest property exemptions. In addition, the Board meets in July and December to correct clerical errors or mutual mistakes of fact or other specific errors relative to the assessment of property. Developers out of West Michigan potentially will redevelop the entire site as a mixed residential and commercial development. The Board makes a determination regarding the property tax assessments brought before it and provides further instruction for the appeal process. A proposal for the remaining 19.5 acres at 1655 Haslett Road to Raby Road in Meridian Township for redevelopment is currently under review. The Board of Review meets in March to hear appeals regarding property tax assessments. ![]()
